![]() ![]() For example, you mentioned protect/shell, I have Cuchulain on Vaan and he has access to Protectga/Shellga. After that, my decisions on Quickenings and Espers were very calculated to try and add more supplementary abilities to help me out. ![]() So I almost made Ashe a Black/White Mage but decided to go Red because it dipped into everything a little bit, including white mage stuff. I just like those three more and also, unlike 10 years ago, I just don't have that amount of time I can dedicate to evenly leveling all six party members. I know the Job system encouraged fixating characters with specific roles and specialties and therefore, exploring different parties and setups, but I wanted to try to stick with one party and cover as many bases as I could. This is how I played the original FFXII and it's how I wanted to play this one, if I could. Part of it was I wanted to run with just one main party: Vaan, Basch, Ashe. This was a tough decision and one I was grappling with/worrying about leading up to the game and later, my first job decisions. ![]() Why do you have your White Mage in the reserves? I know other jobs can learn curative spells, but Dispel, Protectga, Shellga, Bravery and Faith are too important to leave in the reserves, especially during boss battles. I'm a sucker for job systems in general and I think this is exactly what FFXII needed.Ĭan equip Yugyu Darkblade, Black Robes and Genji Gloves. Ultimately, I'm loving the zodiac job system. She won't need to worry about HP or strength with the Monk's large amount of HP increasing augments and Battle Lores, and she'll be able to physically attack when not casting magick. As a Black Mage, she'll be able to nuke enemies and benefit from the Red Battlemage's Magick Lores and HP increasing licenses, and also be able to cast healing and support spells with her access to White and Time Magick.Īnd Penelo is a Black Mage, and I'm going to make her second job a Monk. The Shikari is actually much tougher than I thought it would be, and will benefit from Foebreaker's numerous Battle Lore augments, as well as have access to the Break Technicks.Īshe is a Red Battlemage and I'll probably make her second job a Black Mage, or an Archer. The Machinist will allow her to attack at long range whenever she's not healing or buffing, and guns cause fixed damage, so her low strength won't be a problem.īash is a Shikari and I'm thinking of making his second job a Foebreaker. He's primarily a physical attacker and will have access to great support Time Magick.įran is a White Mage whose second job will be Machinist. The Bushi benefits from the Knight's Heavy Armor and its magick augments power up the Knight's White Magick.īalthier is an Uhlan and his second job will be a Time Battlemage. My Vaan is a Bushi, and I'm looking to make his second job a Knight. Using a White Mage for healing is better than expending items. There's really nothing that makes it special, other than being a good item thrower and knowing the most Technicks, which is cool, but ultimately useless. I find Archer to just be a completely useless job. I tried to use as many jobs as I could in my setup, but I don't think I'll end up using them all. Nothing that won't sort itself out in the end. The only thing I've noticed is that i the beginning when characters split up, due to your decisions, you might end up without a healer or damage dealer for a short while. I've seen some weird picks and it does not seem to bother that much. If you can't decide just pick how you would like your characters best. Once you make your decision though, just relax and enjoy. It does add some extra depth, though it also adds (in my humble opinion) some unneeded hassle that was not there in the vanilla version. Now that I have toyed with it I must say I quite like it, so far anyway. After playing this version, I must say I had to get used being restricted to specific weapon types and being constraint to building characters with specific goals in mind. I am only concerned about Bash being a time battlemage, though in my opinion the other jobs fit the other characters too well.
